BSF seizes Chinese arms dropped by Pakistani drone in Gurdaspur

BSF officials stated on Wednesday that the force seized a number of weapons and ammunition likely dropped a Pakistani drone across the International border in Punjab’s Gurdaspur.

The consignment of arms, which included 4 Chinese-made pistols, eight magazines and 47 live rounds, was picked up by the force from the Uncha Takala village in Gurdaspur on the intervening night of January 17 and 18.

Troops, at the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, heard a humming sound and suspected a drone flying into the Indian territory from Pakistan. Troops consequently fired in the suspected direction of the drone until they heard the sound of something dropping from the sky.

“A BSF party deployed on the outskirts of Uncha Takala village in Gurdaspur heard the humming sound of a suspected drone coming from Pakistan side. In prompt action, the BSF party fired towards the direction of the sound of the suspected drone. During firing, the party also heard the sound of something dropped in the nearby area,” a statement by the BSF read.

After the preliminary search of the area, the BSF troops reportedly found a package with a wooden base in which the recovered weapons were kept.

A detailed search of the area is currently underway, according to the BSF.
