Man cheats 5 Star hotel with Rs. 23 Lakhs bill with fake UAE royal connection

The Delhi Police are reportedly looking for a man, who under the pretext of working for the Abu Dhabi royal family, racked up an Rs.23 Lakh bill at The Leela Palace Hotel, a luxury 5-star hotel in Delhi.

The man, identified as Mohammed Sharif, was reportedly charged with theft and fraud after staying at the luxury hotel for about four months and fleeing without paying his dues.

The hotel staff also supposedly stated that Sharif stole many items, including silver utensils and a pearl tray, from the premises of the luxury hotel.

Arriving at the hotel on August 1, Sharif is said to have checked into Room 427.  During his stay, he reportedly told the staff that he was an employee of Sheikh Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the Abu Dhabi royal family and that he held UAE citizenship. He added that he was on official business in India and even presented the hotel staff with a business card and a UAE resident card among other documents. He then supposedly left his room on November 20.

Sharif reportedly racked up a whopping Rs.35 lakh bill while at the hotel, out of which, he only paid Rs. 11.5 lakhs. He supposedly gave the staff a cheque for Rs.20 lakhs dated November 20, the day he quietly fled the hotel.

The Delhi Police, according to media reports, suspect that the documents produced by Sharif were likely fake.
