Snowfall Warning Issued Ahead of Southern Ontario Storm

Tuesday, just before 2:00 p.m., Environment Canada issued the alert.
Some of the areas included by the alert are Toronto, Hamilton, Halton, Peel, London, Oxford, York, Durham, Windsor, Waterloo, Stirling, Simcoe, Sarnia, Huron, Innisfil, and Peterborough.
The weather service has predicted between Wednesday and Thursday snowfall totals of 15 to 20 centimetres.
Travel will be challenging due to the rapidly falling snow, according to Environment Canada. “It’s conceivable for isolated power outages. Get ready for rapidly deteriorating and changing travel circumstances. Heavy snow can occasionally cause an abrupt reduction in visibility.”
The storm is being caused by a Texas low that is moving north into Ontario, according to Environment Canada. The majority of the snow is expected to fall on Wednesday afternoon, with the storm’s worst conditions expected to arrive Wednesday evening.

By Thursday morning, the snow is expected to stop. Toronto has received about 11 centimetres of snow so far in January 2023, which is much less than the monthly average of 30 centimetres.
