Punjab Police Raid 1490 Places Linked to Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar in Major Crackdown Operation

Punjab Police carried out a special cordon and search operation (CASO) at over 1490 places linked with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Canada-based terrorist Goldy Brar. This move comes as part of CM Bhagwant Mann’s vision of making Punjab a crime-free state. The police has detained multiple people and incriminating material has been seized as well.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav shared that over 1490 suspected hideouts of persons linked with Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar were raided across Punjab. It was a day-long operation that involved about 2,000 police personnel across the state. He added that the simultaneous raids took place after questioning several people who had been recently busted and were working in modules backed by the two criminals.

Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order Arpit Shukla stated that during the raids, several persons were detained for further verification, and incriminating material was seized from their possession. The police is further examining the material and questioning the detained about the sourcing of ammunition, travel details of foreign-based family members, bank transactions from abroad, and western union and property details. Additionally, data from electronic devices will be sent for forensic examination.

This is another one of the massive crackdown operations conducted by Punjab police to try and dismantle the gangster-terrorist nexus in the state. Till now, the police has busted 25 terror modules and arrested 160 terrorists/radicals. It has recovered 30 sophisticated rifles, 200 revolvers/ pistols, and 24 drones since March 2022, according to reports. Punjab police has also busted 140 gangster/criminal modules and arrested 555 gangsters/criminals, along with neutralizing two. More than 500 weapons and 129 vehicles have been recovered from their possession.
