Brampton woman arrested for alleged $500,000 flight ticket scam

Another arrest was made of a second person wanted in pertinence to an alleged scam of more than $500,000 in fraudulently sold airline tickets, Peel Regional Police informed on Sunday.
According to Peel Regional Police, two individuals, 44-year-old Gbemisola Akinrinade and 32-year-old Adebowale Adiatu, under the guise of being employees of travel businesses based in the United Kingdom, misrepresented themselves to a major European airline’s booking portal. The accused then reportedly offered legitimate airline tickets to unknowing buyers while collecting money for their own profit
More than 250 airline tickets were issued and sold fraudulently. The majority of the tickets were sold for flights to Africa, and the unsuspecting victims of the alleged scam were primarily based in Calgary, media reports detail.
