Peel Regional Police to Reveal Details of Sweeping Human Trafficking Investigation and Rescued Victims
Tomorrow morning (May 11), Peel Regional Police will disclose details of a comprehensive human trafficking investigation that led to the rescue of multiple victims from their alleged captors. The press conference will take place at 10 a.m. at Peel Regional Police headquarters in Mississauga. Project Pacific, conducted by Peel’s Specialized Enforcement Bureau Vice Unit in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, has resulted in the laying of numerous charges and the seizure of drugs and property.
Human trafficking has emerged as a growing concern in various parts of Canada, particularly in Mississauga and Brampton in recent years. The proximity of these cities to major transportation hubs makes the area vulnerable to sex trafficking activities. Approximately 62 percent of Canadian human trafficking cases originate in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) due to easy access to major highways and Pearson Airport.
