With 3-0 win over Argentina, India moves back to top of FIH Pro League

India moved back to the top of the FIH Pro League table after recording an emphatic 3-0 win over Pan American champions Argentina in Eindhoven on Thursday.

It was India’s 18th win over Argentina in 32 matches played between the two nations.

Skipper Harmanpreet Singh, who continues to be the top scorer in this edition of the FOH Pro League, added yet other goals to take his individual tally to 18 goals. It was he who drew the first blood in the 32nd minute with a neat powerful flick.

Six minutes later, it was the turn of Amit Rohidas to consolidate India’s lead. He also made a clean work of a penalty corner in the 38th minute.

As India took a 2-0 lead in the third quarter, pressure was on the South Americans. They did work out some good moves and earned its only penalty corner in the 53rd minute. However, the award went to waste as the Indian defence stood its ground well. India confirmed its superiority in every department of the game with a brilliant field goal by Abhishek in the 58th minute.

With this win India has taken its points tally to 27 from 14 games with seven wins. Great Britain has been pushed to second spot with 26 points from 12 games.
