Peel Police Services Board Announces Extension of Chief Duraiappah’s Contract To 2028

The Peel Police Services Board today announced the extension of Chief Nishan Duraiappah’s contract to 2028. Chief Duraiappah, who assumed the role on October 1, 2019, has been instrumental in advancing the vision and mission of the Police Services Board and Peel Regional Police and has demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout his tenure.
Under Chief Duraiappah’s leadership, the Peel Regional Police has achieved several key accomplishments, showcasing his commitment to community safety and well-being, and building deep relationships between the police service and the residents of Peel Region. Chief Duraiappah also served as President of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police from 2022-2023, playing a pivotal role in advancing policing initiatives across the province.
