More Arrests in Porsche Theft Case as Two Adults and Two Youths Face Charges

Investigators from the 11 and 22 Division Auto Theft Units have arrested four individuals in relation to the theft and recovery of two luxury SUVs.

On Friday, September 6, 2024, a Porsche Cayenne was stolen from the driveway of a residence located near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Eglinton Avenue in Mississauga. An 18-year-old woman, Sarah Badshaw, turned herself in to police, where she was charged accordingly.

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, investigators located the stolen Porsche Cayenne, along with a blue BMW X5, believed to have been involved in the original theft of the Porsche Cayenne. Further investigation revealed that the BMW X5 was reported stolen to Toronto Police.

The following two adults and two young persons were arrested and charged.

Rainer Herschel Fernando, a 36-year-old man from Toronto, is charged with the following:

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (X2)

• Possession of an Automobile Master Key

• Obstruct Police Officer

He was held pending a bail hearing.

Steven Giselle Lopez, a 21-year-old person from Toronto, is charged with the following:

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

• Possession of an Automobile Master Key

He was released with conditions and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

One youth, who was found to be in possession of a replica firearm and breaching a previous release order, is charged with the following:

• Possession of Property obtained by crime

• Fail to Comply with Undertaking

One youth is charged with the following offence:

• Possession of Property obtained by crime

Both youths were held for bail hearings.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of a Young Person’s name; therefore, the identity of the Young Person charged in this investigation is protected.

Investigators believe these individuals to be part of an organized group responsible for various serious offences and anticipate laying further charges and identifying additional suspects.
