About 300 crashes reported in GTA in last 24 hours
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt tweeted, "You can see the roads are still coated in snow and slush."
In the previous 24 hours, there were around 300 collisions in the GTA, including two multi-vehicle accidents on Highway 401 in Milton and Mississauga. Roads were slippery and ice due to the winter storm, which probably caused accidents this morning (Jan. 26).
According to an OPP tweet sent out at before 7 a.m., a six-car collision this morning in Mississauga shut down the Hwy. 401 eastbound ramp to Dixie Road. Only minor injuries were sustained in the collision.

This morning saw a lot of crashes. As of right now, there are roughly 25 crashes ongoing, according to Schmidt.
However, he continued, there were around 300 crashes in the GTA in the previous 24 hours.

Around 7:30 a.m., the OPP tweeted that a transport truck was on fire after a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 401 and James Snow Parkway in Milton.
All highways heading east were closed. A short while later, authorities announced that two lanes had reopened and the fire had been put out. Two transport trucks, two cars, and the collision. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. The roads are still slippery, Schmidt added.
