Aman Sehrawat Clinches Bronze at Paris Olympics, Becomes India’s Youngest Medalist
Aman secured his place on the podium with a dominant 13-5 victory over Puerto Rico's Darian Toi Cruz in the bronze medal match.
Indian wrestling sensation Aman Sehrawat made history at the Paris 2024 Olympics by winning a bronze medal in the men’s 57kg freestyle wrestling event, becoming India’s youngest Olympic medalist at just 21 years and 24 days old. This remarkable achievement surpasses the record previously held by badminton star PV Sindhu.
Aman secured his place on the podium with a dominant 13-5 victory over Puerto Rico’s Darian Toi Cruz in the bronze medal match. The bout saw Aman quickly rebound after conceding the first point, using his technical prowess and agility to outmaneuver his opponent. This victory adds to India’s growing tally at the Paris Games, marking the nation’s sixth medal—comprising one silver and five bronzes.
Sehrawat’s journey to this achievement has been nothing short of inspiring. Hailing from Jhajjar, Haryana, he has overcome personal tragedies, including the loss of both parents at a young age, to rise to prominence on the wrestling mat. Trained under the guidance of coach Lalit Kumar, Aman made a name for himself with consistent performances at national and international competitions, including a gold medal at the 2023 Asian Wrestling Championships.
