An Indian international student from Andhra Pradesh was reportedly shot dead, while another from Telangana was injured after being open fired at by robbers at Princeton Park in Chicago on Sunday, according to media reports.

The deceased, identified as 23-year-old Nandapu Devansh, was reportedly accompanied by two others, Koppala Sai Charan from Hyderabad as well as Laxman from Visakhapatnam. Charan reportedly sustained injuries while Laxman managed to escape unhurt.

The three had supposedly moved to the US just 10 days ago after being accepted to the Governors State University in Chicago.

Living together in a rented accommodation, the three were reportedly on their way to a shopping mall to purchase an internet router when they encountered two armed burglars who took their phones as well as cash from them.

According to media reports, the robbers shot at the boys when leaving, leading to the demise of Devansh, who succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical care.

Upon finding out about the incident, the parents of Sai Charan, the injured, appealed to the state government to intervene and insure proper medical care for Sai Charan.
