17-Year-Old charged in connection with an armed carjacking in Brampton

On Friday, a 17-year-old was apprehended in “a high-risk takedown” and charged with armed carjacking during the morning rush hour in Brampton.

According to Peel Regional Police, the chain of response began with a request for assistance from a victim who was in his car in his capacity as a ride-share operator in the city’s Archdekin Dr. / Vodden St. E. The accused and an unknown suspect allegedly entered the victim’s vehicle around 8:15 a.m. to commit the carjacking.

“The victim was restrained forcibly, at which point the accused produced an imitation firearm, demanded the keys, and forced the victim out of his vehicle,” according to Peel police.

The victim did not sustain any physical harm.

Officers on uniform patrol, as well as those from the criminal investigations bureau and the central robbery bureau, were able to locate the driver of the stolen vehicle in the Windsor St. area of Toronto. They made the arrest there.

“(Police) executed a high-risk takedown with the assistance of the Tactical Unit,” Peel police added. “During the arrest, a replica firearm was discovered” A 17-year-old young person, whose name cannot be released due to a general provision of the federal Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), is facing five charges. These include robbery, disguise, use of an imitation firearm, possession of the stolen property, and failure to comply with a recognizance.

The accused had a bail hearing in a Brampton court later on Friday.
