2 armed men loot Rs. 22 lakh in broad daylight from PNB in Amritsar

Two armed men on Thursday looted Rs.22 Lakh from the Rani Masi Bagh branch of the Punjab National Bank, fleeing the scene minutes after, according to media reports.

The incident reportedly occurred around 12:15 pm at the Amritsar Cantt branch of the bank wherein one of the men supposedly barged into the bank while the other stood outside with a pistol waiting on the scooter, according to media reports.

The man that entered was armed and had covered his face. He went up to the cashier, pointing the gun at him and demanding that the cashier put the money in a bag, according to media reports.

The two accused then, minutes after, fled the scene on the two-wheeler.

Authorities are trying to identify the two men through the CCTV footage, according to DCP (Investigation) Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar.

There was reportedly no guard present while the robbery happened, according to media reports.

An FIR has reportedly been lodged for the same and a manhunt is underway for the accused, media reports added.

It may be pertinent to note that the bank is located nearby many important government offices like those of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, and ADCP, Traffic.
