A 22-year-old man who is believed to be responsible for a series of robberies at gas stations in the Greater Toronto Area at the start of the year has been arrested, according to the police.

According to Peel Regional Police, four separate gunpoint gas station robberies were reported between January 31 and February 10.

Later, on February 16, OPP reported a similar incident in Caledon, Ontario.

Following the string of robberies, Peel, Toronto, and York police launched a joint probe. As a result, authorities determined through forensic evidence that the same individual may have been involved for the robberies in Brampton, Etobicoke, and Vaughan.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Dushyant Sunder of Brampton, was charged with four counts of robbery, four counts of using a toy gun, and four counts of disguising oneself with the purpose to commit a crime, according to the police.

The investigation into the string of robberies is currently ongoing, and may lead to the 22-year-old accused being charged with other charges, the police added.
