A trucker from Brampton accrued a dozen penalties following two traffic encounters in just a few hours. The incident began just after 2:30 a.m. on Sunday (Jan. 29), when OPP police stopped a commercial vehicle’s driver on Highway 11 near Val Cote, about 600 kilometres east of Thunder Bay.
According to the police, the motorist was accused of four violations of the Highway Traffic Act. Police claim that they received a complaint about the same driver again just seven hours later.
A further traffic stop on Highway 11 was made for the 45-year-old Brampton driver about an hour outside of Timmins.
According to the police, the vehicle had “a small problem in it” and the driver had multiple inspection logs. Police have charged the driver with 24 offences in total, including reckless driving, failure to keep a daily log, failure to turn in an inspection schedule, and failure to take 10 hours off each day. The Edmonton truck’s owner was also accused of the five offences.
