According to Toronto police, a 63-year-old woman was hit and consequently dragged by an SUV in a hit-and-run incident in North York last week and was taken to the hospital with major injuries.

The incident occurred on February 27 at about 7:26 p.m. near Dufferin Street and Kennard Avenue, according to a news release by the Toronto Police.

According to police, a dark-coloured SUV that was travelling west on Kennard Avenue turned right to head north onto Dufferin Street as the woman was crossing the street on the north side crosswalk. The SUV struck the woman and dragged her under the vehicle until “becoming dislodged and coming to rest on the roadway.”

According to investigators, the driver fled while travelling north on Dufferin towards Finch Avenue West. The 63-year-old was then rushed by an ambulance to the hospital with severe wounds. Authorities are requesting that anyone with pertinent information or who may have dashcam or security camera footage get in touch with the authorities.
