Another ‘mysterious’ blast in Amritsar triggers panic; DGP denies terror angle

Amritsar: The incident happened at around 6.30 am. Police and forensic teams have reached the spot and are taking samples. On Saturday night, a mysterious blast in the area had left six people, including tourists, injured and led to panic. The forensic examination report of that is yet to arrive. Police Commissioner Naunihal Singh said they could acertain anything only after the FSL team’s investigation. DGP Gaurav Yadav visited the spot and denied “any terrorist angle in the blasts, adding that it was a low-intensity explosive in a container”.

Yadav said: “No detonator was used in both blasts.”  He said it was the handiwork of some miscreants apparently to create panic. He said investigations are in progress to identify the suspects and the motive behind it.

On Saturday first blast has took place in a restaurant after which forensic team had collected samples from the spot. Mehtab Singh ADCP Amritsar said, ” We are verifying. The situation is normal here. Anti-sabotage, Bomb Squad, and FSL teams are here. One person has received a minor injury in the leg”
