Peel police shared in a news release that an unprovoked attack on a male victim, whose name has not been disclosed, took place on Tuesday at around 4:30 pm in the area of Hurontario Street, north of John Street. The victim was walking in the area when the attacker approached him from behind, stabbed him, and then fled south on Hurontario Street and east onto John Street, the police said.
As per the police, the attack was unprovoked and the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. He has been identified as 34-year-old David Dytlow, a Middle Eastern male, around five-foot-eight to five-foot-nine with a medium build. At the time, he was wearing a green, shiny puffy jacket, gray sweatpants, and white shoes.
The suspect is still at large and the police are looking for him. Residents are advised to be cautious of the armed man and anyone with information should contact police investigators or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital from where he was transferred to a trauma center. He is currently in stable, but critical condition.
There has been a surge in incidents of stabbing in GTA. Recently, a homeless man was stabbed to death by a group of teenage girls in Toronto. The suspects are between the age of 13 and 16, and one of them was granted bail. Earlier in December last year, a stabbing at the High Park subway station left a woman dead and another injured.
