**Proven Effectiveness in Speed Reduction**
Brampton’s ASE program has already delivered measurable results, with average speed reductions of 6.5 km/h citywide and up to 18 km/h in certain zones. Recent data revealed alarming instances of excessive speeding, such as a vehicle clocked at 133 km/h in a 40 km/h school zone on Howard Stewart Road. These findings underscore the critical role ASE cameras play in curbing reckless driving and enhancing public safety.
**Comprehensive Road Safety Measures**
The ASE program complements Brampton’s broader traffic-calming initiatives, including:
– **Neighbourhood Speed Reduction Program**: Piloted in five neighborhoods, reducing speed limits to 40 km/h.
– **Community Safety Zones**: 187 zones established near schools, playgrounds, and healthcare facilities.
– **Additional Measures**: Flashing 40 km/h signs, speed cushions, pedestrian crosswalks, and educational campaigns.
The City urges residents to remain vigilant against ASE ticket scams. Official tickets are issued by mail only, and fines can be paid securely through the City’s website. Reports of fraudulent text messages should be directed to Peel Regional Police.
