A tragic shooting in Brampton has left one woman dead and several others injured, according to Peel paramedics. The incident, which occurred early Saturday morning, has prompted an investigation by Peel Regional Police, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
Police responded to an emergency call near Rutherford Road South and Selby Road just after 6 a.m. on Saturday. According to Public and Media Relations Officer Richard Chin, shots were fired from one vehicle at another parked in a plaza. The targeted vehicle had six occupants inside at the time of the shooting.
One woman, who was in the parked vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. Peel paramedics confirmed that she died immediately from her injuries.
Another woman, critically injured by gunfire, was rushed to a nearby trauma center. While she remains in serious condition, her injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to paramedics.
In addition, a man and another woman involved in the incident were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not released further details about their condition.
Peel Police’s homicide bureau is actively investigating the shooting, with early reports indicating it was a targeted attack. Officer Chin emphasized that, as of now, no details about the suspect vehicle or the perpetrators have been confirmed.
