Brampton Street Could be Named After Late Punjabi Rapper Sidhu Moose Wala
A Brampton street could be named after late Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moose Wala, a new report suggests. He was an important figure to many residents of Brampton which is why Councillor Harkirat Singh brought this proposal to the City of Brampton. The Punjabi singer was killed in May 2022 in India.
The City of Brampton will be putting up a mural to commemorate Moose Wala, who was an important figure to many of the residents of Brampton. Now, Coun. Harkirat Singh has come up with a proposal to add “Moosa” to Brampton’s master street list. Moosa is the village Sidhu Moose Wala grew up in. If the proposal is passed, the name “Moosa” will be added to the list of possible future street names in Brampton.
The Punjabi rapper was fatally shot 19 times while traveling in a vehicle in his home district of Mansa, north India. The incident took place in May 2022 and no arrests have been made. The proposal comes around the one-year anniversary of Moose Wala’s death. He was killed the day after his security detail was pulled back because of the controversy around so-called VIP culture.
Deepi Cheema, who knew Moose Wala for about six years before his death said, “Everyone is shocked by this loss. It’s unbelievable. He was too young. His music and life motivated so many young people.”
Recently, Anmol Bishnoi who is accused in the murder of Moose Wala was spotted at a wedding in the US. The video circulating online shows Punjabi singers Sharry Mann and Karan Aujla present at the location as well. Aujla shared a clarification on his Instagram and said that he and Mann were booked by a common friend to perform at the event and that they had no idea of the others who were invited.
