Following a three-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Scarborough, one person has died.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police, the incident happened close to Port Union Road at 9:30 a.m.
Investigators claim that after entering a snow-covered highway lane, the driver lost control and the car rolled over.
The vehicle rolled and was hit by two other cars before coming to a stop in the middle of a three-lane highway, according to an OPP news release on Saturday.
According to police, the vehicle’s 47-year-old driver was pronounced deceased at the site. He was the only person riding in the car.
There were no other recorded injuries.
In an effort to avoid the collision, a fourth car crashed into a nearby barrier, according to authorities.
At Meadowvale Road, due to the investigation, all eastbound traffic in the express lanes was diverted onto the collector lanes. By 2:30 pm, it’s anticipated that roads will reopen.
