Daylight Shooting at Fairview Mall Parking Leaves One Dead, Two Injured
A daylight shooting left one man dead and two others injured in the Fairview Mall parking lot on Monday, March 20. The victim has now been identified as a 21-year-old man from Toronto who was later dropped off at a hospital in a personal vehicle but died of his injuries.
The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Madar Hassan from Toronto. The shooting took place in the parking lot of Fairview Mall near Sheppard Avenue East and Don Mills Road, around 4 p.m. Police arrived to find two male victims, both 25 years old, with gunshot wounds. They were transported to a hospital where one remains with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the other is in life-threatening condition.
A third victim from the shooting was later dropped off at a hospital in a civilian vehicle. He died of his injuries at the hospital and has now been identified as Hassan.
As of now, the reason behind the shooting is unclear but Toronto Police Service Duty Inspector Mike Hayles said, “We do believe that suspects did flee the scene and our investigators are on scene working diligently to try to identify those persons or person that may have been responsible for this incident.”
The police are reviewing mall video footage from the area during the time of the shooting. Officers are present in the area investigating the location. The shooting took place in a covered parking lot on the north side of the building.
