Drunk TTE Urinates on Female Akal Takht Express Passenger, Fired with Immediate Effect

The incident took place on Sunday around midnight in the A1 coach of Akal Takht Express headed to Kolkata from Amritsar. Two residents of Amritsar, Rajesh Kumar, and his wife were traveling in said coach when a drunk TTE named Munna Kumar started urinating on the woman. Passengers gathered in the area after hearing her scream and grabbed Kumar.

The TTE was then handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Charbagh Railway station in Lucknow.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw issued a notice today stating that the TTE had been fired. “Your above conduct showing disrespect to women construes serious misconduct, in the process bringing disrepute not only to your own self but entire railways as an organization. It is also seen that you are in judicial custody. Taking cognizance of this grave matter, I consider it to be a fit case to adopt the provision of Rule 14(ii). Thus, I hereby deem it fit to impose the punishment of ‘REMOVAL FROM SERVICE WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT’ for behavior unbecoming of a railway servant,” the notice read.

Along with the notice, Vaishnaw tweeted, “Zero tolerance. Removal from service with immediate effect.”

This is seemingly the third incident of urination from India. The first that came under the limelight was onboard an Air India international flight wherein Shankar Mishra, a Wells Fargo employee, urinated on a female co-passenger and was allowed to walk free when the flight landed. Another incident was reported about 10 days after the first on another Air India flight when a drunk male passenger allegedly urinated on a female passenger’s blanket.
