Following an early Monday morning stabbing in Toronto’s downtown, one individual has passed away.
At Queen and Sherbourne streets, according to police, the incident happened at around one in the morning.
Investigators said that the victim was attacked by a trio of individuals before collapsing. According to the police, the victim was stabbed.
At the incident, Det. Brandon Price of the Toronto police said, “Police responded on scene, department of ambulance services attended as well, and carried the male victim who had symptoms of trauma and was bleeding fairly heavily.
In the hospital, the victim passed away from their injuries.
According to Price, the preliminary examination into the incident suggests that it was a targeted strike.
He said, “I have some very early information that there is a possibility they might be acquaintances of each other.”
“We’re going to sort of further investigate that and determine if that’s accurate or not. But at this point, it doesn’t appear to be a random kind of incident.”
Although no suspect descriptions have been made public, police believe that men were involved and that they fled the scene on foot.
The homicide squad is conducting an investigation and is requesting that anyone with information call the police or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
