Edmonton Man Arrested for the Murder of 22-Year-Old Jashandeep Maan
the Edmonton Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and determined that Jashandeep Maan, 22, died of multiple sharp force injuries and the manner of death was homicide.
The Edmonton Police Service has charged a 40-year-old Edmonton man in relation to a homicide that took place in a central Edmonton parkade yesterday.
On Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024, at approximately 12:15 p.m., Downtown Branch patrol officers responded to the report of a weapons complaint in a parkade in the area of 101 Street and 102 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a male with significant injuries. EMS responded and treated the man, but he was declared deceased on scene.
Earlier today, Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, the Edmonton Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and determined that Jashandeep Maan, 22, died of multiple sharp force injuries and the manner of death was homicide.
Edgar Wesker, 40, who was taken into custody shortly after the incident, has since been charged with second degree murder and has been remanded.
“We can confirm that both men were not known to one another, and this appears to be an isolated incident,” says Staff Sergeant Colin Leathem with EPS Homicide Section. “The accused remained on scene, was swiftly taken into custody by our officers and we have no additional concerns for public safety at this time.”
