In many areas of Ontario, including Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, and Durham, a blast of frigid air will bring unpleasant weather.

A severe cold warning from Environment Canada has been issued for Mississauga, Brampton, Halton Hills, Milton, and the northern Durham Region.

Later tonight, the icy air from the Arctic hits southern Ontario (Feb. 2). According to Environment Canada, wind chill values will be as low as -30 C tonight and Friday morning, February 3.

Wind chills could hit -30 C once more Friday night into early Saturday morning after warming to about -15 C during the day on Friday.

Young children, older adults, those with chronic illnesses, those who go out or exercise outdoors, and those without adequate cover are more in danger from this intense cold.

Environment Canada advises individuals to wear appropriate clothing.

According to Environment Canada’s warning, frostbite can form on exposed skin in just a few minutes, especially when there is a wind chill.

They also advise keeping an eye on elderly relatives, acquaintances, and neighbors. It’s also too chilly for your pet to stay outside if it’s too cold for you to do so.

On Saturday, the temperature is forecast to rise to about -5 C during the day, and Sunday’s high might be a toasty 4 C.
