Five Indians Rescued from Tiny Room in Myanmar
Five Indian men have been rescued from Myanmar where they were being kept in a tiny room by their employer. Four of the men are from Uttar Pradesh and another, a 20-year-old man, is from Gujarat’s Gir Somnath. The company they were working for was involved in fraudulent practices.
Immigration authorities from India and Myanmar worked together to bring back the five Indian men stuck in Myanmar in a tiny room. Nirav Bamrotiya, the 20-year-old was rescued from Yangon city and was brought back to Gujarat’s Gir Somnath. The four others who were rescued were from Uttar Pradesh.
Bamrotiya first went to Dubai through an agent in September last year to work for a private firm. Three months later, another agent offered him a higher-paying position in Thailand. Bamrotiya agreed but was taken to Yangon city, Myanmar, instead of Thailand and was asked to work for a company that was involved in fraudulent practices.
He refused to work for the company after which the owners locked him and seven other youngsters, including three from Indonesia, in a small room. The 20-year-old managed to get in contact with his father Jagmal Bamrotiya and explain what had happened. Jagmal approached the police and on directions from Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, police shared the required information with Indian immigration authorities who then contacted their counterparts in Myanmar.
His family thanked the Gujarat police for their quick response and action.
