23 army personnel have gone missing due to sudden floods in Teesta river due to cloudburst in Sikkim. According to the information received from the media, a cloud burst over Lahonk Lake on Tuesday night around half past one, after which there was a sudden flood in Teesta River in Lachen Valley. According to the information received, there was an army camp in the area adjacent to the river, which was affected by the flood.
According to army officials, the water level of the Nista river suddenly rose by 15 to 20 feet after the cloudburst incident. After this, the areas adjacent to the river were flooded. Many houses were also submerged in water and people left their houses and went to safer areas. Several army vehicles have also been submerged in the flood water and the officials said that the rescue operations are going on.
