Former MP Raj Grewal’s Brampton Residence Targeted in Recent Shooting

Peel police have verified that a recent shooting took place at the Brampton residence of a former Liberal MP.

Nader Hasan, the legal representative for ex-Liberal MP Raj Grewal, informed the Star on Friday that “over the past four weeks, there has unfortunately been a number of shootings outside of the homes and businesses of prominent Brampton businesspeople and community leaders. I can confirm that Mr. Grewal’s home is one of numerous such examples.”

Peel police deputy chief Nick Milinovich, while refraining from delving into the details of the investigation, acknowledged that Grewal’s residence was the location of the shooting when speaking to the Star on Friday.

Milinovich condemned the targeting of any specific group or individual as “unacceptable” and emphasized that the police inquiry into the assault on Grewal’s home is ongoing. He stated, “It is being investigated, and our team is in close contact with the victim.”

The incident at Grewal’s residence coincides with Peel police’s disclosure that they are looking into a “disturbing” series of nine extortion attempts directed at members of the South Asian business community.

In a news release on Friday, Chief Nishan Duraiappah expressed that the extortion threats have “caused grave safety and security concerns.”
