Helicopter Video Shows Three Suspects Chased and Arrested after Attempted Bank Robbery

Four people have been arrested following an alleged armed robbery and most of this incident was captured on video by a police helicopter. The gang has been linked to a series of armed robberies in York Region, Durham Region, Peel Region, and Halton Region in January. They were using a stolen car which the police was able to locate.

On January 20, York Police was informed of an alleged armed robbery at a currency exchange store located in Richmond Hill. At the time, two suspects who were reportedly armed tried to enter a store as the victim was entering the store. The victim managed to get away and the two suspects fled in a dark-colored Mazda.

The vehicle was spotted by a police helicopter a short time later driving towards Durham Region on Highway 407. The suspects parked their car outside Scotiabank in Victoria Street West and Gordon Street area in Whitby. Video footage shows three men wearing hoodies leaving the vehicle and entering the bank. The driver does not leave the vehicle. The video then skips ahead and shows three people running away from the bank with cops chasing them.

They were eventually caught and arrested. The four have been identified as a 15-year-old male from Toronto, a 16-year-old male from Brampton, a 20-year-old man from Stoney Creek, and a 21-year-old man with no fixed address. They are facing a combined total of 46 criminal charges.

According to the police, the gang has been linked to a Peel Region pharmacy robbery and an Oakville jewelry store robbery. They are also said to be responsible for the robbery of an electrical supply store in Vaughan.
