Indian-origin Brampton Man Sexually Assaults Passenger, Gives Himself High Rating and Tip
A 53-year-old Indian-origin Brampton man and Uber driver is being sought out by the police for sexually harassing a passenger and then using her phone to give himself a high rating and tip. The victim was physically unharmed after the incident and the driver is said to be facing one count of sexual assault and fraud.
Police is searching for Vikram Lather of Brampton in connection with a sexual assault incident. Lather drives for Uber in a white 2021 Toyota Corolla and on April 23, he picked up a 26-year-old female passenger in the area of Yonge Street and Eglinton Road to take her to Vaughan. On the way, he reportedly pulled into a parking lot in the Rutherford and Weston roads area and sexually assaulted the passenger.
He is then said to have grabbed the victim’s phone, ended the trip, and gave himself a high rating and tip. He then gave the phone back to the victim and drove off. The victim was not physically harmed in the incident.
Vikram Lather is facing one count of sexual assault and fraud under $5,000. As per the police, there are other victims as well who should come forward and share any information that they have.
