Jagraj Singh's father, Balveer Singh, had already passed away, and his mother, Sukhdeep Kaur, had diligently raised him through hard work.

A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday night in Mississauga, Canada, where 28-year-old Jagraj Singh, a native of Nathowal village in Raikot, was fatally shot. Singh, who had been in Canada for the past three months pursuing studies, fell victim to the violence at 11:45 PM.

The young man, who was not only a student but also worked as a security guard in a Mississauga yard, encountered the fatal attack perpetrated by two armed individuals. Jagraj Singh’s father, Balveer Singh, had already passed away, and his mother, Sukhdeep Kaur, had diligently raised him through hard work.

A postgraduate in mathematics, Raj worked as a private school teacher in Punjab. However, he decided to move to Canada for better employment opportunities.

Jasvir Singh, an acquaintance of the family, said Jagraj Singh alias Raj (28) had gone to Canada just around three months back on a student visa. “He was working as a security guard with a transport company in Mississauga. On the night of November 16, two masked men shot him dead. That’s all we have been told till now,” he said.

“The family does not own any land and they are not financially well-off. They had spent Rs 20 lakh to send him to Canada. We request the government to help us in bringing his body back home for the last rites,” said Jasvir Singh.

“As per information received from Canada till now, the police and others on the spot had rushed him to a hospital but he died while undergoing treatment. There is no clarity yet over the identity of the accused and their motive. Raj never had any enmity with anyone. He was on his duty when he was shot dead,” he added

The local authorities are actively engaged in investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
