Inter-state Pharmaceutical Drug Cartel Busted in Punjab, Four Arrested
Fatehgarh police arrested a Ludhiana man who was involved in an inter-state pharmaceutical drug cartel, leading to the arrest of three more people, two of whom were in prison. The police recovered 19,590 intoxicant tablets from his possession, as well as a much larger portion of tablets from different locations in Ludhiana.
On January 23, during a special check, Fatehgarh police arrested Sunny Kumar after recovering 19,590 intoxicant tablets from his possession. During questioning, Kumar revealed that he was supplying the tablets to customers at the direction of Eshaan Gupta and Ravi Kumar who are in Ludhiana Central Jail, according to SSP Fatehgarh Sahib Dr. Ravjot Grewal.
Both the accused were then brought on a production warrant and the mobile phone used in the case was also recovered. The two then revealed that they got their supply of pharmaceutical drugs from Ranjit Rinku, who was then arrested on Saturday, last week.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ropar Range, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said, “On accused Ranjit Rinku’s disclosures, the Police teams have recovered 3.60 lakh tablets of Lomotil and 1.51 lakh tablets of Tramadol from pinpointed locations in Ludhiana.”
The police are still investigating the case to find out who the main supplier is. An FIR was registered on January 23 at Police Station Gobindgarh, Fatehgarh Sahib. Grewal added that more recoveries are expected to be made.
