Lakhbir Singh Landa’s Associate, Three Aids Arrested from Jalandhar
An associate of Canada-based terrorist Lakhbir Singh Landa, along with his three aids have been arrested by Punjab police. The four accused were arrested from Jalandhar and the police recovered four pistols along with ammunition from their possession.
The key accused has been identified as Vijay Kumar alias Toti from Bhikha Nangal village in Kartarpur, Jalandhar. His three accomplices have been identified as Amardeep Singh alias Patwari, Sooraj Singh, and Rahul Lahoch, all residents of Jalandhar. Punjab police shared that Vijay Kumar has as many as 18 criminal cases pertaining to illegal weapons, drugs, extortion, and kidnapping. The other three also have some charges against them.
Acting on a tip from a reliable source about the gang, the Police teams from Jalandhar Rural set up a special naka in the Durgi area and were able to successfully arrest all four accused persons. They were traveling on two motorcycles which have been impounded, along with four pistols – two .32 bore country-made pistols with 10 live cartridges, one 9 mm country-made pistol along with two live cartridges, and one .12 bore country-made pistol with one live cartridge. The police were informed that the gang had a plan to commit crime in Kartarpur area.
An FIR has been registered under sections 379-B, 386, 392, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Kartarpur. It was also reported that two of the arrested persons were also wanted in a kidnapping case as they had abducted a resident of Gaji Gadana village in Kapurthala district and demanded Rs. 3 crore as ransom.
