Jalandhar: The Aam Aadmi Party MLAs are visiting the villages of Jalandhar district to meet farmers and supervise the special girdawari that officers are conducting to compensate farmers for their losses due to incessant rain and hailstorm in Doaba. MLAs are listening to the grievances of farmers as per the instructions of the chief minister Bhagwant Mann and making sure that the reports are filed as soon as possible so that farmers can be compensated by the festival of Baisakhi.
In this series, on Monday, AAP MLA from Nakodar Inderjeet Kaur visited the villages of Noormahal block of her constituency to inspect the loss of crops there. She assured the farmers that the Mann government is doing everything to compensate for their losses. She also urged the NRIs and rich landlords to help small scale farmers in this hour of crisis, because rains and hailstorm had destroyed the wheat crops more than 70%. AAP MLA has met the farmers of more than 25 villages so far and said that she’ll continue to meet farmers of the rest of the villages too to expedite girdawari process in her constituency.
A day before, AAP MLA Balkar Singh met the farmers of village Naugaja of Kartarpur to inspect the loss of crops there. He said that CM Mann has put government machinery to do girdawari as fast as possible and farmers to get Rs. 15,000 compensation per acre which is way more than what previous governments used to give farmers for their losses due to rain and hailstorm. He also thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for this pro-farmer step.
