‘Navjot Singh Sidhu will get some role in Congress’: Rahul Gandhi
by The Canadian Parvasi
Rahul Gandhi, while on the Bharat Jodo Yatra on Tuesday, stated that cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu will get some role in Congress, just a day after his wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, joined Gandhi on the yatra in Jalandhar.
While in Hoshiarpur for the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the Congress leader stated, “Punjab can be run from Punjab only. If it is run from Delhi, then people of the state will not accept it.”
Speaking on Congress’s affiliation with Navjot Singh Sidhu once he is out of jail, as well as Congress leaders joining BJP, Gandhi stated, “I am happy at leaders from the Congress going to the BJP. They obviously were under a pressure. But it’s good for us that they have gone. Sidhu will get some role in the party.”
Navjot Singh Sidhu is currently at the Patiala Central Jail serving a one-year sentence relating to a road rage case dating back to 1988.
Media reports suggest that Sidhu may be released from jail earlier than the completion of his sentence, as jail authorities have sent his case, among others, for remission on January 26 on the occasion of Republic Day.
