Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H) Ludhiana’s innovative initiative called the “NRI Family Medical Care Plan,” is offering much-needed peace of mind to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) concerned about the health of their loved ones back home.
This plan allows NRIs to enroll their parents, family members, and close relatives, ensuring they receive comprehensive healthcare services even when their family is miles away. Members enrolled in the plan are provided with a membership card containing the hospital’s contact details. In the event of a health emergency, they can call the hospital, and an ambulance will promptly transport the patient to the hospital for treatment.
Kawaljeet Kaur, a 33-year-old supply chain management consultant from Punjab, shared her thoughts on the program: “I recently got to know about the ‘NRI Family Medical Care Plan’ from DMC&H, Ludhiana and I think this program can give peace of mind to so many NRIs like me, who are living far away from our families. I will definitely reach out to the concerned person to know more about the program.”
The plan ensures that NRIs stay informed about their family member’s treatment. Regular updates on the patient’s condition and progress are provided, ensuring NRIs are confident that their loved ones are receiving the best care possible.
Harveer Dhillon, a marketing professional in Mississauga, expressed his relief upon learning about the program: “I was told about this program by a friend and my instant reaction was a sigh of relief as my father is 74 years old and I constantly think of his health. DMC&H Ludhiana is a renowned hospital, probably the best in north India and it is a welcome move from them to introduce such a plan.”
After the patient’s recovery, the hospital arranges for an ambulance to take them back home. A detailed discharge summary, including information about the treatment provided and any necessary follow-up care or medications, is emailed to the NRI.
With this plan, DMC&H has made significant efforts to alleviate the worries of NRIs regarding their family’s health issues. NRIs can contact +91 932 932 9327 or email medicaltourism@dmch.edu to enroll in the “NRI Family Medical Care Plan” and ensure their loved ones are cared for with dedication and expertise.
