Olivia Chow is the new Mayor of Toronto

Olivia Chow is the new Mayor of Toronto She defeated Ana Bailao by more than 30000 votes in a contest that had 102 candidates in the fray. Olivia becomes the third woman Mayor of Toronto and first woman of Asian origin to be Mayor of the most populous city of Canada. She also happens to be the first woman mayor of amalgamated city of Toronto .Incidentally she will be 66th Mayor of Toronto. Though the Premier of Ontario Doug Ford supported and voted for former Toronto Policd Chief Mark Saunders who finished third with 8.6 per cent votes against 37.1 percent polled by Olivia. Ana Bailao who was endorsed by outgoing Mayor John Tory polled 32.5 percent votes. Mitzi’e Hunter sitting MPP finished sixth with 2.9 percent votes.
