One Associate of Gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria Arrested in Tarn Taran, Drug Money Recovered
Gangster Jagdeep Singh alias Jaggu Bhagwanpuria’s hideouts have been raided and one person has been arrested, along with recovering drugs and money. The raids were part of the Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) which are being organized to support PM Bhagwant Mann’s vision of a drug-free Punjab.
According to the latest reports, the CASO raids were conducted across Punjab at hideouts that were linked to Gangster Jagdeep Singh alias Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. The one-day operation involved raids at as many as 2,371 suspected hideouts by at least 409 parties of Punjab Police involving about 2,863 police personnel across the state.
The police were able to apprehend Jaipal Singh alias Gumta of Patti in Tarn Taran and recover 1 kg heroin as well as Rs. 27 lakh drug money from his possession. Another accomplice said to be a close associate of Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, has also been booked. He has been identified as Harmandeep Singh alias Harman of village Gulalipur in Tarn Taran.
Tarn Taran police was informed about an arms and drugs delivery involving Jaipal Gumta and Harmandeep Singh. They quickly set up a Naka and arrested Jaipal Gumta who was traveling in his SUV Mahindra Scorpio (without a number plate) that had heroin and drug money in it. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tarn Taran Gurmeet Chauhan, a manhunt is underway to arrest Harmandeep Singh.
An FIR has been registered under sections 21, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act and section 25 of the Arms Act at Tarn Taran Police Station City Patti.
