Two children and two adults ended up in the hospital due to a house explosion in Kitchener, Ontario on Wednesday night, according to the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
The explosion occurred at around 11:40 p.m. in the area of Elm Ridge Drive and Queen’s Boulevard and caused substantial damage to the residential property as well as some damage to the neighbouring houses, according to the WRPS.
While the adults, a man and a woman, sustained serious injuries and were taken to an out-of-region hospital, the children were rushed to a local hospital with minor injuries.
As of now, the cause of the explosion remains unknown.
A Grand River Transit bus was called to the site to provide shelter to those displaced due to the explosion, according to the officials. The Ontario Fire Marshal has also been reportedly notified to investigate the incident.
