Peel Police Arrest Two 18-Year-Olds and a Teen Suspect in Carjacking Case

Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau have charged three individuals in connection to a carjacking and an attempted carjacking in Mississauga.

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at approximately 7:15 p.m. a woman was loading her vehicle in a parking lot near Heartland Town Centre. The woman and her child who was with her were confronted by two masked suspects who arrived in a black Acura sedan. The suspects demanded her keys and fled the scene in her vehicle. A third suspect, driving the black Acura also fled. Fortunately, the woman and her child were not physically injured.

The next day, July 4 at approximately 7:30 p.m. a woman, returning to her vehicle which was parked in a gym parking lot on Pepper Mill Crt in Mississauga. She was confronted by two suspects who emerged from the same black Acura sedan. The victim attempted to flee but was knocked to the ground and her purse stolen. The suspects were unable to obtain her vehicle keys and fled in the black Acura. Fortunately, the victim was not physically injured.

On July 5, detectives from the Central Robbery Bureau observed the suspect vehicle occupied by three masked individuals who were believed to be preparing for another carjacking robbery in the vicinity of Hurontario Street and Courtneypark Drive in Mississauga. With help from the 12 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau, Tactical and K-9 officers, the suspects were quickly intercepted and arrested.

The suspect vehicle, the black Acura was on file as stolen.

Mackey Lashano, an 18-year-old man from Toronto, Deshawn Sadler, an 18-year-old man from Brampton, and 14-year-old male youth from Toronto have all been charged with the following Criminal Offences:

• ROBBERY (X2)

• DISGUISE WITH INTENT (X2)

• POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME (X2)

They were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

In both instances, the victim’s vehicles were BMW X7 SUVs. Investigators are confident that they were targeted strictly for their high-value vehicles.
