Peel Region Schools Threatened with Shooting on March 10 via Social Media Post

Several Peel Region schools have been threatened with shootings through a social media post that has since been taken down. The post on Reddit spoke about a person who will be attending several schools in the region with the intent of shooting at each school.

According to a report, a post on Reddit claimed that a person will be attending multiple Peel Region schools with the intention of shooting on March 10. The schools named were Louise Arbor Secondary School, Holy Name of Mary Catholic Secondary School, Notre Dame Secondary School, St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, and Ascension of Our Lord Secondary School. The post has since been taken down, but the report cites a screenshot of the text.

Peel District School Board said it is aware of the post and is taking it very seriously. It stated that “school staff, the school board’s Security staff, the school board’s School Support staff, and local police are all working together to ensure the safety of our students and our school staff. The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority.” The threat is under investigation by Peel police.

It is unclear who made the post or what actions are being taken to counter the threat.
