Chandigarh: The Punjab government has decided to restore the 10.77 lakh cards that were deleted from the Food Security Scheme.While briefing about the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said these beneficiaries would get free ration from this month onwards.

A new scheme to simplify the transfer of schoolteachers has also been okayed by the Council of Ministers, he said.Mann said the CM yogshalas would be extended to 15 new cities.

The pension of widows of defence personnel who died in action had been increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000 per month, the CM said. Mann said the Farishtay scheme would be launched on January 27.

The cabinet also cleared the name of JPS Aulakh as the PPSC chairman. The file will now be sent to the Governor for approval.

Mann said that in 2024, Punjab would create history by giving all Lok Sabha seats to the Aam Aadmi Party.He said there would be no alliance with the Congress in the state. He was replying to a question on the future of the INDIA bloc.

Mann said, “We are trying to make Punjab economically self-sustaining. They (referring to the BJP-led Centre) keep stopping our funds.”
