Punjab Police recovers 5 kg heroin, Rs 12 lakh cash; one held

The counter-intelligence wing of the Punjab Police on Sunday confiscated 5 kg heroin, Rs 12 lakh cash, and arrested a man in relation to the drug trafficking in Amritsar.
The arrested, identified as Rashpal alias Pala, is a notorious drug smuggler, according to Additional IG, Counter-Intelligence, Amritsar, Amarjit Singh Bajwa.
Taking to Twitter, Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav tweeted Sunday, “In a major breakthrough against trans-border narcotic smuggling networks, CI Amritsar arrested Rashpal @ Pala engaged in drug trafficking and recovered 5 Kg Heroin & Rs. 12.15 Lakh Drug money from his possession. Drones were used to transport drugs.”
“FIR under NDPS Act is registered at SSOC, Amritsar and Investigation ongoing @PunjabPoliceInd is committed to make our state drug-free as per the vision of CM @BhagwantMann,” DGP Yadav continued in another tweet.
DGP Yadav stated that the preliminary investigation revealed that the consignment of drugs was sent by Pakistan-based drug smugglers through drones.
The accused was arrested by the counter-intelligence wing of the Punjab Police while he was on his way to deliver the narcotics, after receiving payment from a third party, DGP Yadav detailed further.
The accused has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, according to the Punjab Police DGP.
