Red alert regarding stubble burning in Punjab
The decision was taken due to increasing cases of stubble burning

After the directions given by the Supreme Court regarding stubble burning, Special DGP Arpit Shukla in Punjab has issued a red alert in all the districts of the state. DGP Arpit Shukla said that this decision has been taken to ensure compliance with the Supreme Court’s directive of a complete ban on stubble burning. He said that if any case of stubble burning comes to light, strict action will be taken against the accused person.
It should be noted that Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav has appointed Special DGP Arpit Shukla as Police Nodal Officer to ensure action against stubble burners. Arpit Shukla said that all the district police chiefs of the state have been instructed to reach out to the farmers and citizens and make them aware of the damages caused by stubble burning. It should also be mentioned that stubble burning is a legal offense and legal action can be taken against those who burn stubble.
