According to Ontario Provincial Police, a school bus driver who reportedly ran a stop sign and struck a van in Whitby on Thursday morning has been charged with careless driving.
Officers said that only minor injuries were found after paramedics examined the students. There were no hospital transfers.
35 kids between the ages of 11 and 12 were aboard the bus while on a field trip, according to OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.
The vehicle was travelling eastbound on Highway 7 when the school bus crashed into it as it was leaving Highway 412, according to Schmidt.
According to OPP, the vehicle had the right of way, and it is being looked into if the school bus ran a stop sign.
The bus driver, an Oshawa man aged 46, was taken into custody and accused of reckless driving.
