Several Homes in Brampton Evacuated After Impaired Driver Crashed into Gas Pipe

Following a car crash that led to a gas leak late Monday evening, several homes in a Brampton neighborhood had to be evacuated. The driver of the pickup truck was allegedly impaired when he wedged the vehicle between two buildings. The driver is now in custody for impaired driving.

Just before 11:30 p.m. on Monday night in the area of Denison Avenue and McLaughlin Road South, Brampton, a pickup truck crashed between two homes. The crash resulted in a gas line breaking and causing a gas leak. As a precaution, multiple homes in the neighborhood were evacuated. Peel Const. Donna Carlson reportedly said that a few homes near the collision were evacuated following a gas leak from the collision.

The photo shared by Peel Regional Police shows a Chevrolet pickup truck with dents and scratches on its right side between two buildings. A broken pipe can also be seen on the ground next to the truck.

The man behind the wheel in the pickup truck, who has not been identified, was allegedly impaired at the time of the crash. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is now in police custody for impaired driving.

The residents of those homes were allowed to return after the incident, the Peel Const. shared.
