Khushneet’s father claimed that she was never pressurized about working or sending money back home.

Khushneet Kaur was an intermnational student who came to Canada on December 26, 2022 and committed suicide on February 7, 2023 due to depression.

Khushneet’s father, Jasbir Singh went live on Parvasi Radio to talk about his daughter. He mentioned that they were regularly in contact with her and she never showed any signs of worry or depression. He further claimed that she once told him that though she has huge dreams and wants to do a lot in life but she doesnt feel she will be able to acheive them all.

Her father said that they have talked to most of her friends to ask if she was going through something, but they all denied.

She lived in Brampton with her cousin named Kamal.

Khushneet’s teacher Manroop Chahal, described her as a dedicated and motivated student. He further said that she had high expectations but the reality is different.

Students across the country are struggling with the rising costs of living and  community members have several times raised the concerns however, it is dispiriting to witness that no action or initiative is being taken, specifically for the international students, by the college authorities or the elected MPs.
